Final State Interactions

Precise measurements of the mass and width of the W boson are carried out in e + e − collisions at Lep, by kinematic reconstruction of the invariant mass distributions of W + W − → qq ′ ℓν ℓ and W + W − → qq ′ qq ′ candidate events. The most recent combination of such results from Aleph, Delphi, L3 and Opal uses approximately 82% of the final Lep2 integrated luminosity and is preliminary. The m...

Final State Interactions and Ε

I discuss the rôle of strong final state interactions (FSI) in K → 2π decays. In this case strong FSI effects can be resummed [1,2] by solving the Omnès problem for K → 2π amplitudes. Implications for the CP conserving ∆I = 1/2 ratio and the direct CP violation parameter ε ′ /ε are also discussed.

Charm Nonleptonic Decays and Final State Interactions

A global previous analysis of two-body nonleptonic decays of D mesons has been extended to the decays involving light scalar mesons. The allowance for final state interaction also in nonresonant channels provides a fit of much improved quality and with less symmetry breaking in the axial charges. We give predictions for about 50 decay branching ratios yet to be measured. We also discuss long di...

Final State Interactions in Kaon Decays

We quantify the important effect of strong final state interactions in the weak K → 2π amplitudes, using the measured π-π phase shifts with J = 0 and I = 0, 2. The main results of this analysis, with their implications for ε/ε and the ∆I = 1/2 rule, have been already presented in a previous paper [1]. Here we provide a detailed formal derivation of those results and further discuss the Standard...

Final State Interactions in Kaon Decays Revisited

We examine effects of final state interactions (FSI) in kaon decays using a new scheme without the Omnés function, and show that while ∆I = 1/2 rule is impossible to be explained in terms of FSI alone, ′/ ∼ 16.5 × 10−4 is obtained through FSI, if the calculation is concerned only with the CP-violating parts. The ππ contribution to the mL −mS mass difference is shown to be about 14%, if the size...
